Months of consideration and reflection are finally behind my back.
I have officially resigned as CEO of PATAS, with the official exit date set to June 5 2015. I joined PATAS in a phase of expansion and the need for fresh people bringing color and ideas of development. Starting as a simple volunteer, being introduced to PATAS by Sunny Garcia at the Pride march in December 2011, things went smooth and fast.
After the need of an PRO, I took that position and started connecting PATAS oversees. The uplift to the position of Vice President strengthened my position, and I created the so called VP Team, a team formed of talented writers to make the PATAS web site more vibrant and interesting for a broader audience; youth, professionals, politically interested and the elderly. Interviews with people abroad and other organizations.
Finally I was asked to seat the position as CEO, which I gladly took. I represented PATAS in the German Press and also at the convention in Oxford. However, like in every organization, people come and go, and the constellation changed in way that I didnt see any further future for me to continue in my position as CEO. On top of that, an oversees attempt to boost PATAS in a certain way failed, and I take this as a personal failure. With both issues combined, I see it no longer possible to hold on to my seat, giving way to new people.
The good news however is, that I will be focussing on the Secular LGBT movement in The Philippines, and with some lucky ease, and the right wind of change, I became a part of BUS (Bahaghari United Secularists) with a strong online subscription and a first event participating at the AIDS Memorial in Quezon City Circle on May 17, the day of IDAHOT (International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia).
Live changes and so do we, our surroundings change and so must we. It was basically a natural development under the past and present circumstances.
I wish PATAS all the best in its continuous fight for the non religious in The Philippines and I will work hard for the LGBT community in a secular way, as an Atheist, but with the focus on the needs of the LGBT community.
